Verdant Green is a term used to describe the finest color in emeralds. It was introduced in June 2017 by Guild Gem Lab together with the Colombia Emerald Technology Development Center (CDTEC).
This color falls within the Vivid Green category, but only emeralds with strong saturation and well-balanced brightness can be classified as Verdant Green. The result is a rich, lively, and intense green that stands out for its beauty and depth.
In the Guild Gem Lab grading system, Verdant Green is not linked to any specific origin. Any emerald that shows exceptional color- bright, vivid, rich, saturated - can receive this top rating.
Emeralds from Afghanistan exhibit exceptional transparency and clarity, giving these stones a bright brilliance, while lighter specimens often display a unique inner glow. Compared to other origins, Afghan emeralds have minimal inclusions. Due to their similar chemical and physical profile, these stones are often compared to Colombian emeralds, making Panjshir emeralds a high-value asset.
